March 2024 Rides

A page featuring galleries and links for cycle tours undertaken during March 2024.

I ride regularly, and I do not necessarily post a web page for each tour I do.

I do post to Facebook, Garmin Connect, Strava and occasionally to Komoot and Instagram.

Monthly Tours

Gö Feldweg Omloop 51km – March 31 2024

A revised Gö Feldweg Omloop held on a sunny, warm Easter Sunday – More here.

Under a Saharan Dust Cloud in Gö – March 30 2024

It was a warm Easter Saturday (21) but with no discernible show of sunshine because of a mix of cloud cover and the air blowing from the Sahara bringing with it dust.

Nonetheless we felt liberated of our winter clothing and rode across Kerstlingeröder Feld, an amazing place which has seen no pesticides having been a Panzer training area in previous times. We also did a cool ronde of the Gartetal riding a few unknown sectors of gravel.

Two Shades of Green in Gö – March 27 2024

On a warm and sunny spring day, we used the excuse of going to kitty´s favourite petfood store to combine supplying him with goodies and a gravel bike ride.

On route it was amazing to see the usually bone dry and recently created flood basin adjacent to huge logistic centres still with some water in them.

The pet store is painted an interesting shade of green and my Handsling almost blended in.

Gö Gravel Frühling Social Ride – Jägersteine – March 24 2024

The first Gö Gravel informal social ride of spring and to quote David Bowie, “We can be Heroes, just for one day. We can be us, just for one day”. We were all that on this tour as we were hit by adverse weather that almost blew us off our bikes but we still had fun.

The tour included the Jägersteine, this is one of many huge rock formations that are a feature of the area. The Stone Age people in the Mesolithic period as well as Waldhute farmers in the Iron Age made their homes here.

We rode parts of this as group in in 2023 – Let´s Rock.

Another aspect of note on the tour was the Kopfensteiner Karousel.

Danke for their company: Josh, Johannes, Andree, Andrea, Andreas, Victoria, Sebastian B, Felix T, Konstantin, Rene, and Chris.

Scouting and Buying Käse mit Victoria in Gö – March 21 2024

Spring has sprung and I plus Victoria scouted a future Gö Gravel social ride which she has in mind.

Victoria also bought cheese and we had an enjoyable time despite an evil wind that cut through us. She was very patient with me when I told her about castles including the now lost one at Niedeck (green sign).

Easy Tempo Delight in Gö – March 6 2024

A simple short easy tempo ride which was good for mind, and body. Even the sun made an appearance.

There was the bonus of a Turkish Delight to consume afterward courtesy of William.

People´s minds are thinking of Easter in DE.

March Hare Gö Strade Bianche – March 3 2024

In Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland published in 1865 the Mad Hatter and the March Hare are felt driven to act as if every minute should be time for a tea party. Madness being an occupational hazard of the hat making profession and male Hare´s are notorious for their spring antics.

Alice says of the March Hare, “and perhaps as this is May it won’t be raving mad – at least not so mad as it was in March.”

Some might say this of us cyclist´s in early spring after winter!

We rode the 40km Gö Strade Bianche and none of my ride companions are of course Mad Hatter´s or a March Hare (OK, just a bit). Danke, Chris, Konstantin, and Craig.

The warm spring weather allowed me to dispense with the hated mudguards and most of my winter clothing – joy!

The ride song was White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane.

Tim Burton film trailer.
March Hare.
Cartoon Party.

Note the new old bike at the P-Cafe.
